Project rubric teapot

1) I succeeded in making my tea pot with clay. With help, it came out very smooth and well put together.

2) I could work on smoothing the bottom of my teapot out more because it broke in the kiln from the cracks.

3) Future projects I will try to prevent cracks and breaks.

4) I give my teapot a 4.5 because even though the bottom broke and it cannot be used as a teapot, it still looks like one and it is extremely smooth and well glazed.

Project rubric wheel pot

1) I think I successfully built my pot while working on the wheel. I needed some help but overall my pot came out neat and how I wanted.

2) I could have worked on smoothing it out more because some edges are rough.

3) I will work on smoothing my projects out more.

4) Overall I rate my wheel pot a 4.5 because I think I did very well and it looks neater than most of my projects I have done so far.

Project rubric animal endangered species

1) I think I made the penguin well and got it to actually look like a penguin, as well as picking out the right colors to make it look like a penguin and how I wanted it to look.

2) I could have worked on making the penguins face better, and slipping and scoring the arms and feet on better so that they didn't fall off when it got fired.

3) I need to improve on my slipping and scoring so that my projects don't break in the kiln.

4) I rate my penguin a 4 because even though the arms and legs fell off, it still looks like a penguin and it was well structurized.

Project rubric coil pot

1) I think I succeeded mostly on the structure of my coil pot. I liked how I designed it.

2) I could have done better at glazing my coil pot because some areas are white.

3) I will focus on becoming more neat when glazing my projects

4) I give myself a 4 for my overall grade of my coil pot because I think I built it well even though the paint job could use some work.

Pop art final inspiration

This image inspired me when glazing my teapot because it had bright colors that caught my eye and had drawings and symbols to stand out along with it

Project Rubric elephant

1) I was most successful at glazing my elephant. It turned out nice and smooth.

2) The most challenging part was making the legs and the ears for the elephant. It was difficult for me to get it to stand up, but I eventually got it after a couple of tries, as well as the ears.

3) I am going to focus on making my artwork more neat and well-built. I struggled with making my elephant look like an elephant, so it was time consuming.

4) content:4
    Craftsmanship:4
    Creativity:4
    Studio participation:4
    Composition elements and principles:4

I rated my project a four for content because all the requirements were met, but I didn't go above and beyond. I demonstrated strong skill and patiently rendered work. My elephant was creative because I painted my ears and tail pink, which was different from the rest of the body of the elephant. I came in during Gaels period to finish my elephant, and I also put a lot of effort into it. My elephant was well-planned and built, and it used the necessary elements and principles.

Project Rubric Whistle

1) I was most successful at creating my snowman to fit the whistle. I added two balls, made a face, arms, hair, and a scarf to it.

2) The most challenging was making the whistle. I asked Matt for help because I did not understand how to make it and how to use the Popsicle sticks.

3) I am going to focus on improving my whistle-making skill. Because my snowman broke, I need to remake a whistle so I need to practice on doing that.

4) content:5
    Craftsmanship:4
    Creativity:4
    Studio participation:4
    Composition elements and principles:5

I gave myself a five for content because I met the criteria and went above than what was requested when I added accessories to my snowman. I rated my craftsmanship a four because my artwork did demonstrate skill and was patiently rendered. My creativity went beyond because I chose to make a snowman into my whistle, which was creative and unique. I also added a scarf to it. I used my class time wisely to make this project and I put effort into it. I used the correct elements and principles, and it was well-planned.

Project Rubric Face Tile

1) What do you think you were most successful elements of your work?
-I think that I was most successful at glazing my work. The colors I chose were in different areas in each tile, and they blended well together.

2) What aspects were the most challenging?
-I think the most challenging part of this project was tracing my tiles and reflecting them on the clay. I wasn't sure how it would turn out and I would have outlined my face differently.

3) What skills are you going to focus on improving on your upcoming projects?
-I am going to improve on taking my time and working more thoroughly on my projects instead of just trying to get them finished.

4) Using the rubric above, rate your level in each area and justify your score. Use specific examples from your project and the time you used in class.
        -content:4
         Craftsmanship:3
         Creativity:3
         Studio Participation:4
         Composition Elements and      Principles:4

I rate my content a four because I followed all directions and met the necessary criteria, however I did add more to go beyond. For craftsmanship, I gave myself a three because I think my tiles could've came out neater and prettier. My creativity was average and met the requirements, but I didn't go beyond with additional ideas. I put effort in making my project during class and used time wisely, so I rated myself a 4 for studio participation. For the last one, I gave myself a four because I used the right elements and principles that was well-planned.

About me

My name is Alexa Manteris, and I am a junior at Bishop Gorman. I am in Ms. Dawson's Ceramics 2 during first period. My favorite class is Chemsitry, and my goal is to get an A in this class and do better with clay than last year. I used to play soccer and volleyball, but currently I am not participating in anything. I am taking Ceramics 2 because Ceramics 1 was a fun elective that I took last year.
